What Students Say about MEPP Distance Learning

"I did a lot of traveling while in the MEPP program. I've traveled all over Europe and to the Far East. It was very convenient to log in via a Web-based computer. It could be in an airport lounge. It could be in a hotel room. Anywhere you can get access to the Web, you can get access to the courses."

"When I first looked at the program I had a concern about how it was going to maintain person-to-person contact because it is remote learning. It is 180 degrees different than what you might think. If you have any qualms about remote learning throw them out the window when it comes to MEPP because you really do get help from all directions."

"I have been nothing but totally satisfied with the program, and I believe that the quality is unmatched with respect to the type of degree being offered. I can honestly say that the skills I've gained as a result of my studies have been put to immediate use. For my lifestyle (young kids, career, a wife who works out of the house) the MEPP program is the only choice for me. I rely on the flexibility of the program as a means to my success with it."

"If you're on campus and you go to a faculty member's office hours, you stand out in the hall while your fellow student is in the office getting answers to his questions. And then you go in and get the answers to your questions. With the MEPP program and the interactive discussion forums, you can post a question out there to the faculty member and you will not only get responses from the faculty member, but you'll also get answers from fellow students, who share other examples. Or perhaps the faculty member explains something and everybody gets to see the answer. So it's better interaction than you get on campus."

"I was also surprised by how much interaction there was between the students in the program and the students and the instructors. The discussion forums were hotbeds of constant activity. People were always posting comments, questions, and problems. The instructors immediately jumped in and made comments, sometimes not even when a question was asked. Sometimes they would just read postings and post responses, their feelings towards it. So it didn't even have to be solicited participation from the instructors. They jumped in and basically got right into the mix with all the students."

"I again was astounded at how well we were able to establish relationships and build the trust level that's necessary to execute team projects even though as a team we're never in the same room together. The cohort model is really a different way, perhaps a 21st century way, for people to really interact closely with each other, even though they are not seeing each other face-to-face."
